Instrument Technician

Our client, Corridor Resources Inc. is a Halifax, Nova Scotia based leader in the exploration and development of petroleum and natural gas resources throughout Eastern Canada. Corridor’s McCully Field in Southern New Brunswick has gas currently flowing to markets through the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline (M&NP) and has a continuous development drilling program underway to add reserves and production capacity as field development expands as well as a number of potentially high impact exploration projects planned elsewhere in Eastern Canada. On Corridor’s behalf we seek an Instrument Technician for their McCully field near Penobsquis, NB.

The Instrument Technician will be the responsible for calibration and maintenance of the gas plant and well site instrumentation and control systems. The Instrument Technician will work a dayshift from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a requirement to respond to call outs at night. The shift schedule consists of 4 days on, 3 days off, 7 days per week, and 365 days per year. Because of the on call situation the candidate will be expected to live within 30 minutes of the plant site.

The Instrument Technician must operate effectively with a minimum of supervision. The work can at times be physically demanding with some heavy lifting and work in inclement weather.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES:

  • Calibration and servicing of all instrumentation in the Corridor gas plant and well sites including electronic and pneumatic instruments, valves and meters for monitoring and maintaining safe operation of the various processes;
  • Maintenance of the distributed control system;
  • Identifying and reporting operating issues;
  • Recommending enhancements to the control systems;
  • Completing calibration and maintenance reports;
  • Act as a relief operator as required from time to time;
  • Staff training;
  • Comply with corporate Health and Safety objectives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A journeyman instrument technician ticket;
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in an industrial environment, experience in oil and gas facilities would be preferred;
  • Experience with Emerson Delta V distributed control systems would be an asset;
  • Training in WHMIS, TDG, First Aid, Emergency Response, and other oilfield related safety programs.
